1. What if your Genspark chat history disappears?
When using Genspark, have you ever thought, "I'd be in trouble if this chat history disappeared..." or "I want to save it as text on my PC"?
Conversations with AI are a treasure trove of valuable ideas, but if the history gets too long, it can be difficult to find past content, and there's a risk of not being able to view it if a service outage occurs.
Unfortunately, Genspark currently does not have an official chat history export feature (backup function).
However, by using a Chrome extension, anyone can easily save their history.
In this article, I will explain how to safely back up your chat history using a Chrome extension I personally use and love, called "Genspark Exporter."
2. What You Need (Can't Save on Smartphones?)
This method uses PC browser features, so the following environment is required:
- PC (Windows / Mac)
- Google Chrome browser
- Chrome extension "Genspark Exporter"
⚠️ Regarding saving on smartphones:
Unfortunately, Chrome extensions cannot be used in the app version or browser on smartphones (iPhone/Android), making PC operation essential.
If you want to view your history on your smartphone, it is recommended to put the text file saved on your PC into Google Drive or iCloud.
3. How to Install the "Genspark Exporter" Chrome Extension
First, open Google Chrome on your PC and install the free extension.
- Access the Chrome Web Store.
- Enter "Genspark" in the search bar.
- Click on "Genspark Exporter (Genspark to Obsidian)" that appears in the search results, and press the "Add to Chrome" button to install it.

Searching for "Genspark" in the Chrome Web Store brings it up at the top.
4. How to Individually Save the Current Chat History
This is a convenient method if you want to quickly save only a specific chat history in Markdown (text) format.
- Open the chat screen in Genspark that you want to save.
- Click on the extension icon (puzzle piece 🧩) in the upper right corner of the browser and select "Genspark Exporter."
- From the displayed menu, click the top blue button "Save Current Chat to Markdown."

Just by pressing the blue button, the current chat history will be saved.
Then, the chat content will be downloaded to your PC as a .md (Markdown) format file.
This file can be opened with text editors such as "Notepad" or "VS Code," and "AI's statements" and "your statements" are neatly saved in a distinguished manner.
⚠️ Important Note:
Images and generated files themselves are not saved. Only "text (conversational character information)" is saved.
5. How to Batch Save Past Chat Histories All at Once
This is the ultimate feature when you want to "back up all past chats at once!"
- Open the Genspark top page.
- Just like before, open "Genspark Exporter" from the extension icon in the upper right.
- Click the bottom blue button "Open Batch Export."
- The settings screen (shown below) will open, so just press the green "Start Export" button.

The settings screen will open. Pressing "Start Export" will begin the batch saving.
With this, you can download past chat histories all at once.
On the settings screen, you can choose between "Latest page (latest page only)" or "All data (all data)." Basically, "All data (Recommended)" is fine.
6. Summary: The Best Solution Until an Official Feature is Released
Actually, I once thought, "Should I create my own history saving tool using Genspark's API?"
However, because this extension is so convenient and free to use, I decided, "If this exists, I don't need to make my own" (laughs).
It would be best if an "Export History" official feature were implemented someday, but until then, this "Genspark Exporter" seems to be the strongest solution.
If you don't want to lose your important conversation logs, please give it a try.
