Summary of Genspark Android App and Browser Bugs [As of February 2026]

Genspark is popular as a multi-functional AI workspace, but some bugs are occurring in its Android app and browser versions. In this article, I will summarize the bugs I personally experienced in my environment (Samsung Galaxy Android) and other cases found through my research.

Android App Bugs

① Cannot Download Files from AI Drive

In my environment (Samsung Galaxy Android), even when attempting to download files saved in AI Drive from the app, a bug occurs where the download does not complete or results in an error.

Similar reports can also be seen. Google Play reviews contain multiple Japanese comments stating "Generated images cannot be downloaded," and posts confirming that download URLs stopped working around April 2025 have been observed on Reddit (r/genspark_ai) as well.

Workaround: Try updating the app to the latest version, clearing the cache (Settings → Apps → Genspark → Storage & cache → Clear cache), or reinstalling. If it doesn't improve, switching to the browser version (PC), described later, is currently the most stable method.

② Chat History Not Reflecting

In my environment, despite being logged in, chat history and other data may not be displayed. Restarting the app sometimes resolves it, but reproducibility is not consistent.

Currently, no similar reports have been found. It may depend on individual environments or communication conditions.

Workaround: Completely close and restart the app, or try clearing the cache. If it still doesn't improve, we recommend using the browser version.

Browser Version Bug: .cac Extension Issue

The browser version (https://www.genspark.ai/) also has bugs. In my environment, when downloading files from AI Drive, an issue occurs where the `.cac` extension is appended to the filename. For example, report.pptx is downloaded as report.pptx.cac, making it unopenable as is.

Currently, no similar reports have been found.

Workaround: You can open the file by manually deleting .cac from the filename.

  • For Android: Long-press the file in a file manager app like "Files by Google" → Rename → Delete .cac from the end
  • For Windows: Right-click the file in Explorer → Rename → Delete .cac from the end
  • For Mac: Click the file in Finder → Press the Return key to rename → Delete .cac from the end

Additionally, clearing the browser's cache, trying in incognito mode, or disabling extensions (such as ad blockers or translation tools) may also be effective.

Other Reported Bugs

Although different from my experience, I will also introduce other bugs found through research.

In July 2025, QAwerk's Android bug investigation reported issues such as slide preview images not displaying, the back button navigating to unintended screens, and UI text overflowing.

Additionally, in May 2025, a bug occurred in the AI slide export function, and the official X (@genspark_japan) announced and addressed the fix. Thus, due to Genspark's rapid pace of feature additions, temporary bugs appear to be prone to occurring.

Current Best Workaround

As of February 2026, the PC browser version (https://www.genspark.ai/) is often more stable than the Android app. I myself primarily use the browser version currently.

If you want to use the app version, always update to the latest version, and we recommend checking the official X (@genspark_japan) for bug information.

How to Report Bugs

If you find a new bug, you can report it to Genspark using the following methods:

When reporting, including the device name, OS version, app version (or browser name and version), reproduction steps, screenshots, occurrence date/time, and account email address will facilitate a smoother response.

Summary

  • In my environment (Samsung Galaxy Android), bugs are occurring where AI Drive downloads are impossible and chat history is not reflecting.
  • Similar reports regarding the AI Drive download bug can be seen in Google Play reviews and on Reddit.
  • In the browser version, downloaded files have a .cac extension (no other reports have been found currently).
  • The current best workaround is to use the PC browser version.
  • Always keep the app updated to the latest version, and check the official X (@genspark_japan) for outage information.
